horse Horse Skills And Thrills At Equus 2004

Spins, roll backs, flying changes and sliding stops - that's what David Deptford will be demonstrating in his western riding techniques at Equus 2004 at London's ExCeL between Friday and Sunday, 16th - 18th April.

Equus will combine expert demonstrations and seminars, an exhibition area, a Healthy Horse Clinic, Children's Entertainment Area and Job Shop and CV Clinic.

Riding his famous American quarter horses, David has been thrilling audiences with his precision riding for many years, and has been riding western throughout his life.

One of David's specialisations is reining, the equestrian sport of the future which could soon be adopted at the Olympic Games. Reining is exciting to watch, with the American quarter horse completing a set pattern around the arena at the lope/canter. That's where the spins, roll backs, flying changes and sliding stops come in! And the American quarter horse is the real horse of choice for such thrilling activities as well as being beautiful and graceful to watch in the hands of its trainer and rider.

David has been breeding American quarter horses for two decades, and now breeds them and trains riders, using their own horses or David's, at Sovereign Quarter Horses in March, Cambridgeshire. He is a member of the American Quarter Horse Association - UK.

He is famous, too, for owning Snipper's Heirogance who came from the United States in 1993 as the main stallion at David's yard. Snipper's offspring, trained by David, are regular show arena winners.

Most of David's American quarter horses were bred at his yard, and he is now helped with his western riding demonstrations by wife Sarah and their daughters Amy and Eleanor. All are skilled American quarter horse riders.
