Olympians to Compete for more than $225,000 at High Prairie Farms

Parker, CO—Olympians from as far away as Mexico and Ireland will converge on the Colorado Horse Park at High Prairie Farms in July. They will join local athletes and others from around the country as they vie for more than $225,000 in prize money in three grand prix show jumping events.

The highlight of the events is the AGA $60,000 Grand Prix of Denver presented by Dillards and Ariat held on July 19. Defending champion Tracy Fenney returns this year to attempt to retain her title. Fenney is currently ranked number one in the MASCUP standings and has had an amazing spring, winning three $50,000 grand prix in Ocala, Florida.

Another defending champion returns to Parker as well. Lorenza O’Farrill won the Rocky Mountain Grand Prix last year. O’Farrill, who travels to High Prairie all the way from Mexico, has been a World Championship Team member, top ten at the World Cups Finals and qualified for the Olympic Games. She will attempt to defend her title in the AGA $40,000 Rocky Mountain Grand Prix presented by American Sport Horse Stables on July 12.

The first grand prix of the circuit is the $25,000 High Prairie Grand Prix on July 5. This MASCUP event is just in its second year, but has already become a competitive class.

A $100,000 bonus is offered to the horse and rider and combination to win all three grand prix. Although no one has so far succeeded in claiming the bonus, a couple of have come really close. Will this be the year?

Spectators are welcomed at each grand prix. Tickets are just $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12. The events begin at 5:30 p.m. on July 5 and 12 with opening ceremonies beginning at 5:00 p.m. on July 19. Tickets are available to all three events by calling 303-841-5550 or at the gate. VIP tickets, which include dinner, on July 19, are $100. Parking is free. Snacks and dinner are available on the grounds.
