This year's Newmarket Nights, six evenings of horseracing followed by a live concert from a well-known group, start at Newmarket's July Racecourse on Friday, June 20, when A Tribute To The Bee Gees takes centre stage after an exciting six-race programme.

The Bee Gees performed as a group from an early age, gaining an Australian number one in 1966 with 'Spick And Speck', and enjoyed their heyday in the 1970s, reinforced by their role in the film 'Saturday Night Fever', which starred John Travolta. The movie's soundtrack featured six Bee Gees' songs, including the title track 'Stayin' Alive' and 'Jive Talkin''. The band produced hits over four decades.

Later during the summer, chart-topping Liberty X and Atomic Kitten appear at Newmarket for the first time. Liberty X will be on stage on Friday, July 25, while Atomic Kitten will perform on Friday, August 15. Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra and Status Quo were two of last year's sell-out attractions and both these bands feature again on the 2003 roster.

Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra will whip the audience into a frenzy on Friday, July 18, and two weeks later, on Friday, August 1, Status Quo will bring their quintessential brand of British rock to Newmarket. The Hollies are the other group appearing at this year's Newmarket Nights and racegoers will get the opportunity to see them perform on Friday, August 8.

Almost 100,000 people last year enjoyed the six Newmarket Nights and anyone wishing to enjoy great racing action with memorable music afterwards is urged to book early to avoid disappointment. Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra are already 70% sold out across all enclosures, while there are still tickets available for both the Members and Grandstand & Paddock Enclosures for Atomic Kitten and Liberty X but the Family Enclosure is now sold out for both these events.

Those wishing to come to any of the Newmarket Nights are also reminded that - for safety reasons - reservations for any free child tickets required must be made at the time of booking. Free places are limited and accompanied children arriving at Newmarket without reservations will be unable to gain admission to the course. The number of children attending must be factored into the number of people allowed into the racecourse.

Tickets can be purchased on-line. Ticket prices are: Members' Enclosure: £25, Grandstand and Paddock Enclosure: £15 and Family Enclosure: £6. There is a 20% Group Booking Discount (not available online) for groups of over 20 people as long as the booking is made in one transaction and a 10% Advance Booking Discount which is available on purchases of up to 20 tickets. Discounts do not apply to the Family Enclosure.

The first race is scheduled for 6.15pm on Friday, June 20, with the gates opening at 3.45pm. The feature races are the £15,000-added European Breeders Fund Classified Stakes (8.25pm) over a mile and the £14,000-adde Portland Place Properties Rated Handicap Stakes (7.55pm) over seven furlongs.
