horse An Additional €25,000 For The "Jumping Double"
Kerrygold Horse Show 7-11 August 2002

An additional €25,000 will be awarded to the show jumper who wins both the Kerrygold Classic at the Kerrygold Horse Show and the Sallynoggin/Pavilion Grand Prix at the Dun Laoghaire Horse Show which is a qualifier in the Kerrygold National Grand Prix League.

This is the first time ever this bonus prize is being offered. The horse and rider combination that pulls off this fantastic feat will take home an impressive €40,000.

Possible double winners could include: Dermot Lennon - 'Ginger Watt' and 'Liscalgot'; Cian O'Connor - 'Irish Independent Casper'; Shane Breen - 'Luandra' and 'Godsend'; Stephen Smith - 'Desert Prince'; and Conor Swail - 'Windgates Cruise West'. These riders are entered in the Kerrygold Horse Show and are competing in the Dun Laoghaire Grand Prix.

The Kerrygold Classic (International Competition No. 2) takes place at 3:20pm on the first day of the Show, Wednesday 7 August 2002. Obstacles in the Classic are between 1.40m and 1.60m high and speed is anything up to 350m per minute. The rider with the fastest time around the course and the least faults wins €5,000 from a prize pool of €15,000. The Dun Laoghaire Show Grand Prix takes place at 2:30pm on Monday 5 August and offers a first prize of €10,000.

Many riders competing at the 2002 Kerrygold Horse Show use the Dun Laoghaire Horse Show as a warm-up event to prepare for the demands of competition on the Main Arena. Dun Laoghaire is a good competition to ready horses for the Kerrygold Horse Show, particularly if horses have travelled long distances.

The 2002 Kerrygold Horse Show is open to the public from 9:00am to 6:30pm daily from 7 - 11 August. General admission costs €11.00 for adults and €7.00 for children, students and senior citizens.

The Dun Laoghaire Horse Show takes place on Monday 5 August 2002 at the Pottery Road Grounds behind the National Rehabilitation Hospital. It is open from 9:00am to 6:00pm with jumping competitions from 9:00am and a carnival in the afternoon. Entry: €5 per car (includes admission and parking); pedestrian entry €2 adult and free for children. The Show's charity in 2002 is the Alzheimer Day Care Centre, Blackrock.

The bonus prize is an initiative of the Royal Dublin Society and Dun Laoghaire Horse Show.
