horse Unique Auction Of Miniature Horses
The premier of the Miniature Horse Exclusive Sale will take place on Thursday 20 September. It is the first time in Europe that such an auction of miniature horses will take place.
On the grounds of The Kossak Stud in Zuidoostbeemster in the Netherlands, 42 exclusive miniature horses will come under the hammer. Falabellas, Bergmanns, Appaloosas and American Miniature Horses of all ages, colours and sizes between 70 and 98 centimetres (27 and 38 inch) are being put up for auction.
Keeping a miniature horse is, at the present time, a trend throughout Europe. The whole thing began in Argentina where the families Falabella and Bergmann began to breed miniature horses under their names.

8th Sept. 2001 TNT Sires Of The World Comes To A Climax In Postponed Final
The final of the TNT Sires of the World will take place during the FEI Breeding Jumping Championship at Domein Zangersheide on 22 September. The final was meant to take place in March but because Indoor Brabant was cancelled an alternative date had to be found. Even though postponed to September, the final will be none the less exciting; there is, however, an adapted formula.
Lanaken is by tradition the place where the first competition heats of TNT Sires of the World have taken place. In the beautiful grounds, the interest in the stallion section on the one hand by the riders and the stallion owners, and on the other hand by the sports fans and the breeders is huge. For this reason an adapted formula has been chosen.

13 October 2001
The British Horse Society has joined forces with Horse and Hound and Horse magazine in a Ride for Road Safety Day on 13 October, with the aim of helping motorists understand why it is important to pass horses and carriage drivers wide and slow when they meet them on the road.
There are over 3000 accidents a year involving horses on the roads, and six riders have already been killed so far this year. The campaign will try and explain to drivers the dangers of passing horses too closely at speed, or of driving too fast along country roads when there might be a horse and rider around the corner.

horse Rescued Horses to Race Again
Racehorses at Karachi racecourse who were earlier this year facing starvation have survived to race again.
Thanks to the quick actions of the ILPH (International League for the Protection of Horses), who stepped in to fund a rescue package, the future for those horses who survived their ordeal is bright.
Says Ian Kelly, ILPH International Manager, "Unfortunately news of the plight of the horses abandoned at the racecourse reached us too late for 70 or so, but we are pleased to say that all the horses we helped have survived and the majority will race again."
The ILPH enlisted the help of the Brooke Hospital for Animals, who have a large programme in Pakistan, and at the beginning of July a team led by vet Dr. Anwar-ul-Huq arrived in Karachi to organise feed and water and administer veterinary treatment.

2nd Sept. 2001 FEI World Breeding Jumping Championships for Young Horses 2001
Breeders-show of superlatives
The FEI World Breeding Jumping Championships for Young Horses again promises to become a show of superlatives. For four days domain Zangersheide will be the center of sport and breeding, a fascinating combination as nowhere else highlighted during CSI-YH Zangersheide. With the Grand Prix for licensed stallions (finals of the Sires of the World series), the stallion selection of Studbook Zangersheide (on Thursday and Friday) and the Studbook auction of foals and 3-yr-olds (on Friday-night) this last summer weekend will once again offer a complete breeder’s festival.
The regular programme has only been marginally changed - a thing once proved effective needs little adaption. Until the circumstances demand, which is not the case. In the course of its eight years’ existence the concept has, after all, sufficiently crystallized out and the organisation committee and the regular crowd of helpers have learnt to act in harmony. Actually, there can only be one false note, and that is the weather.
