BEF Appoints Executive Officer

The BEF has developed a long-term strategy and progress is such that an Executive Officer is needed to drive further development. The Federation is delighted to announce the appointment of Helen Huggett to this new role, which was created with the help of UK Sport who are funding it.

Helen Huggett will be taking on a number of roles including managing planning and reporting processes and implementing policies to improve standards of administration, consultation and communication within the Federation. She will provide direct support for a number of member bodies, support the BEF's commitment to the British Horse Industry Confederation and a variety of working groups. A number of new initiatives will be delivered by Helen including the volunteer programme and Owners' Foundation.

Andrew Finding said;
"We wanted a dynamic, broad thinking person to support and drive forward our plans and Helen meets our needs perfectly. I am delighted to welcome her to the Federation; she will help us implement our strategic plan effectively while her legal experience will be invaluable, especially where the management of disciplinary affairs and doping control procedures are concerned."

Julie Thompson, UK Sport Performance Services Manager, said;
"UK Sport are pleased to support this appointment which will enable the Federation to continue to effectively progress the coordinated Strategic Plan for Equestrian sport. Helen will be involved in helping to implement a number of key activities and aiming to enhance the delivery of coordinated programmes generally. We wish Helen every success in her new role."

Helen Huggett said;
"This is clearly an exciting time for equestrian sport. I look forward to taking part in the challenge with great enthusiasm."

Helen is a qualified solicitor and has, until now, been practising as a litigator with City firm Clyde & Co. She recently moved to Warwickshire to take up this post which is based at the BEF's headquarters in Stoneleigh.
