Singer Wins Record Sixth USET Pairs Championship

Gladstone, NJ—October 15, 2002—Lisa Singer of Chadds
Ford, PA won the United States Equestrian Team (USET) Pairs Driving
Championship for the fourth consecutive year and record sixth
time overall. The Championship was held during the Gladstone Driving
Event, October 11-13, at the USET Headquarters and Olympic Training
Center in Gladstone, NJ.
With
her victory, Singer surpassed the previous record of five Championship
titles, which she shared with Larry Poulin. Singer, the only woman
driver ever to win the USET Pairs Championship, won in 1994, 1997,
and every year from 1999 through this latest triumph in 2002.
She finished this year’s competition with a score of 118.88
penalties, posting a score of 37.07 in the dressage phase, 77.81
in the marathon, and 4.00 penalties in the cones phase. Singer’s
horses are owned by her sponsor Mimi Thorington of Fallowfield,
PA.
Mary
Hayes of East Windsor, CT, finished in second place behind Singer,
with an overall score of 190.57 penalties.
