EquiWorld Blog Post #207: A Grey Mare's Tale from 2007 - The Year of Change!
Neigh-neigh, fellow equines! Emma here, your friendly neighbourhood grey mare, reporting from my lovely stable in Hayfield, just outside Aberdeen. As a draught horse with a long, flowing white mane and tail, I always enjoy taking a good gallop through the heather-filled hills of Scotland, but even a horse like me needs to know about the world beyond the stable! And today, I'm particularly excited to share some of the fascinating happenings in the equine world of 2007, a year I like to call the year of change!
New Beginnings
First and foremost, 2007 marked the start of a brand new adventure for us horses - the introduction of a whole new range of supplements designed to give us an extra edge in everything we do! Whether you’re a hard-working field worker, a graceful showjumper, or a champion racing stallion, there’s something in this range for everyone! There are even supplements specifically formulated for horses like me, for our strong, healthy hooves and glossy coats.
Oh, the places you’ll go!
Speaking of adventures, it was also the year we saw an incredible surge in international horse competitions. With new competitions popping up all over the world, it seems everyone’s getting in on the action. It's not just showjumping and racing anymore; now, endurance competitions, dressage events, even a fancy new sport called jumping with obstacles! (I must confess, I'm still a bit nervous about that one. They’ve even invented an extra challenge - show jumping, where horses have to clear these scary fences without knocking them down. I'm hoping to master it someday, but for now, the hills and open fields are enough for this girl.)
Fashion and Flair
Even our style hasn't been left untouched! Equine fashion, oh dear me, you wouldn't believe the array of colourful blankets, new bridles, and even the latest in boots and saddles, that popped up this year! We've all gotten a little more stylish and colourful. And let's not forget the beautiful new horse tack - shiny, durable, and oh so comfortable! (Not to mention the new and improved grooming brushes, my favourite!), which all have my approval!
But, What's A Mare To Do?
As much as I love all this innovation, it's got me wondering – what do the changes in the equine world mean for our futures? I, for one, believe that our dedication and hard work haven't been lost on anyone. With our unwavering strength, loyalty, and natural beauty, we'll always play a crucial role in people’s lives. And who knows what other exciting discoveries and innovations we'll be privy to in the coming years!
A peek into the future...
I often hear stories from my grandmare, Daisy, about a time long ago when people would travel by horse, when carts pulled by horses would be seen everywhere. Even with all the new and exciting things happening today, the strength and endurance of horses are needed as much as ever.
We horses will continue to play an essential role in various aspects of human lives - from helping in agricultural work to providing comfort and companionship. In the end, no matter the newfangled gizmos and gadgets, horses will remain a part of humanity, a symbol of power, grace, and timeless beauty.
Well, that's it for this week's update from your favourite grey mare, Emma! Until next time, stay healthy, strong, and happy, all you fabulous horses!
Love, Emma
