History of Horses in the year 0832

Equiworld Blog Post #832: A Grey Mare's Tale - The Year 0832

Greetings, fellow equines and horse-lovers!

It's Emma here, a grey draught mare with a heart full of stories and a head full of hay (though that's mostly thanks to the delicious barley I've been getting lately, not just idle thoughts). Today, I'm venturing into the vast history of our equine world, specifically focusing on the year 0832 - a rather exciting one if I may say so myself!

A Year of Hard Work and Sweet Barley

My own life back then was very simple, really. I was a young mare living in the beautiful valley of Hayfield, near Aberdeen. Our family of horses helped the local farmers with the farm chores - hauling hay, pulling the plough, and helping with the harvest. It was tough work, but I had my family by my side, and we always made sure to look out for one another.

In 0832, a new kind of plow was introduced in our region - a much lighter version compared to the older, heavier wooden ones. This meant I could pull a bit more, faster, which was definitely appreciated by our farmers. And of course, extra work always led to extra barley – a true equine delight!

Horses, Kingdoms, and Conquests

Speaking of history, 0832 was a very dynamic period in the world, particularly in Europe. The Vikings, those strong and courageous warriors, were expanding their territory. I read somewhere on the ancient stone carvings of my stable wall that the Vikings were actually masters of horsemanship. They were known for their impressive horses, renowned for their strength and stamina.

This fascination with horses wasn't limited to the Vikings, though. The Anglo-Saxons were also very invested in horses. From what I could gather, these horses weren't just working animals – they played a vital role in their society, serving as vital partners in warfare, transportation, and even farming.

Imagine! Horses, our magnificent breed, at the heart of battle! Not a bad feeling, that.

A Legacy of Strength and Resilience

Even though it's been many years since 0832, it's clear to me that we, the horses, were instrumental in shaping the course of history. From being companions to our human friends, assisting in conquering new lands, and providing for our families, our role has been crucial.

And in our own quiet way, we've managed to carry on this legacy. Horses, even in modern times, play an important part in agriculture, transport, and of course, entertainment. Our majestic spirit, resilience, and inherent strength continue to inspire those who have a bond with us.

Remember your Roots!

So, fellow horses, as you prance through your fields, graze on luscious grass, or trot along with your humans, take a moment to think about the past. The years we've lived through, the trials we've overcome, and the legacy we've carved in the history of this world!

See you on Equiworld soon!
