EquiWorld Post #1316: The Year of the Grey Mare - 1316
Hello there, fellow equines and horse-loving friends! Emma here, a grey mare with a mane and tail as white as freshly fallen snow. I'm writing to you from my lovely stable in Hayfield, just outside Aberdeen in Scotland.
It's been a while since I last updated my EquiWorld blog - a busy few months! You see, it's 1316 and there's so much going on in the horse world. We are always on the move! From the chilly, but breathtaking Scottish Highlands to the bustling city streets of London, horses are needed everywhere, from hauling goods to carrying passengers and, of course, serving the noble knights and ladies of the realm!
1316: The Year of King Robert and His Faithful Steeds
Well, as you all know, our great King Robert the Bruce has finally vanquished his enemies. This is indeed a momentous occasion for the Kingdom of Scotland and for all the horses within its borders. Our strong and steady legs have carried his valiant army to victory on the battlefields, paving the way for peace and prosperity. Many of my fellow steeds were tragically lost during the fierce battles, which I find heartbreaking. But knowing the lives we saved in service to our King is a source of great pride for us, and our human companions. King Robert is a wise and generous ruler who deeply values his horse-friends, treating us with kindness and respect. He often speaks of his admiration for our unwavering loyalty, strength, and spirit, and I know he values us highly as partners in both war and peace.
A Scottish Horse Dream Come True
For my part, I spend my days in Hayfield, a village nestled amid rolling hills, where the fresh scent of heather fills the air. My master is a kind farmer who uses me to help with the chores around the farm. My work is never too demanding, but always fulfilling. My work gives me purpose, and the fresh, green meadows where I graze are nothing short of a paradise!
My heart flutters every morning when I feel the sun's rays warming my coat and smell the fragrance of dew on the fresh-cut grass. These peaceful moments always remind me why Scotland holds such a special place in my heart.
Our Role in the World
Of course, my life in the Scottish Highlands is quite different from that of the noble steeds found in the city of London. Imagine the hustle and bustle, the thundering hooves on the cobbled streets, and the spectacular sights of that grand metropolis! I know many of my kin who carry important messages or haul heavy loads throughout the city. Their lives are undoubtedly thriving as well, but their lives are full of constancy and diligence.
Indeed, whether it is the Scottish countryside or the streets of London, horses like us play an essential role in everyday life.
EquiWorld: The Horses' Perspective
I always make sure to visit EquiWorld, the website for all things horse! It's such a great source of information on our fascinating world. This week, I've discovered that they are celebrating "The Year of the Horse," in 1316! Who knew?! I love how EquiWorld gives us a platform to share our experiences and learn from each other. Even the horses who work in faraway lands can stay connected!
I'll be sure to keep you updated with the happenings in my world and share more about my experiences here in Scotland! Do keep in mind that the information I'm writing about is what I see and what I've gathered from other horses. And do feel free to share your thoughts on the happenings of 1316 with me too!
Until next time!
Your friend,
Emma
